Samuel Ford died from wounds on 10th May, 1915, after having been sent to a base hospital near Rouen, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 4th Rifle Brigade battalion was part of 80 Brigade, 27th Division, that had arrived in France in December, 1914 and since that date had been holding the line in Belgium. During April and May of 1915 they were in action during the Second Battle of Ypres. |
